Water-resistant board packaging has higher strength properties when wet compared to similar grades of regular board. In an environment with a humidity of 70 to 95% it preserves the integrity and appearance much longer.
This is what makes the packaging produced from Water-RCB corrugated board versatile. It is equally suitable for packaging of dry, moist and frozen products.
The barrier properties are created by adding special agents into the paper stock in the process of manufacturing the water-resistant linerboard and fluting. Hydrophobic agents are used for gluing the layers together to ensure that the adhesive is also waterproof.
BECAUSE OF ITS PROTECTIVE PROPERTIES WATER-RESISTANT BOARD CAN BE USED FOR THE FOLLOWING APPLICATIONS:
- Packing fresh fruits and vegetables,
- As container packaging for chilled and frozen foods (sausages, dairy products, frozen meat and fish),
- When directly exposed to water, in a high humidity environment, for storage in unheated or outdoor warehouses,
- Under long-time dynamic loads.
WATER-RCB CORRUGATED BOARD LABORATORY TESTS
- A comparison of water-resistant board samples demonstrated that at 95% humidity the upper strength level (ECT) is 30% higher than that of regular corrugated board.
